The Dark Knight Rises Improved

The Dark Knight Rises looks to be a great movie this summer. I like the Nolan take on Batman and this promises to be a really cool way to see the story unfold. We have (for the past few months) gotten to see a lot of the movie in trailers and sneak-previews, but in my opinion the one below is the greatest.

No offense Mr. Nolan, but Pee-Wee Herman's voice improves everything.

Brilliant Sesame Street Parody

I have been a fan of Sesame Street for as long as I can remember. One of the things that brilliantly separates Sesame Street from many other shows is its phenomenal use of parody often. It belongs in the same category as Saturday Night Live and The Onion. Here is an awesome parody of the hit show Glee--about a glee club--that follows the "G" club with some completely recognizable characters:

There is a genius in this video about a videogame pitch. I'm not talking about Tim Schafer, creator of the Monkey Island games, Psychonauts, and more. I'm talking about the executive. The brilliant cookie loving exec! I love the tie and collar. (Incidentally I built a similar tie and collar combo for my dragon puppet and my brother's chimpanzee puppet at my mother's wedding in 1996.) I love the smart phone. (Seriously who wouldn't have a phone cover of their own face in his position?) And I love cookie monster!

Chad Vader reminds us what day it is. Just in case you have a hard time remembering what comes after Thursday or three days from Tuesday. Honestly it can all be somewhat complicated. Alas, the song that this parodies is not.

Three Englishman float across an Italian lake in a bouncy castle. That's one hell of a prank! My favorite part is the shark costume. And the interrupted international sail boat race. And that they are English. Okay, these English guys definitely win.

Conan + Carrey = Comedy Gold Supermen!

Okay, okay all of you haters out there may point out neither of their singing styles stressed being terribly in tune. Jim Carrey seemed somewhat oblivious to many of Conan's early attempts at harmonizing. Not to mention that Jim's hairstyle was not precisely the Kansas farm boy spit curl. Let's not ruin the performance too soon.

I really wish I had been there to see that. I mean, all things considered, that would have been easily in the top 20 "Coolest Things to See Live" perhaps just behind the Big Bang and The Beatles rooftop concert on top of Apple Studios circa 1969.

Which leaves only one unanswered question. . . How did Jim Carrey make it past security dressed as Superman?

The BUREAUCRAT-AT is definitely my favorite. This must be what out of work AT-ATs do on any given day. Or maybe the ones that didn't make it to the movie are funniest!

Lego has issued an apology and it is about damn time! I love Lego products and having quite a few I know very well the problem that this video addresses. Thanks Lego for coming up with a solution even if it is a few decades too late.

Revenge of the Eighties Song!

It's time again for the literal version of songs from my childhood. The funny thing is I used to do a dance about the dangers of drugs to this song. And I kind of thought it was sort of melodramatic back when I was a melodramatic teenager. Anyone who was a part of a Baha'i Youth Workshop will probably have interesting memories of this tune too. This one is pretty well done. I think it really helps to have a crazy video in order to do a literal video version. And this one is pretty crazy. Thanks Eighties you strike again!

Sweep the Leg Johnny!

I love this video! It does take a knowledge of big eighties movies. I know I'm aging myself but I loved this movie as a kid. This next year a remake of this movie is being made starring Jackie Chan and Wil Smith's son Jaden Smith. I suggest that the old one is worth a watch before yet another part of my childhood is remade. I like Jackie a lot but I don't have high hopes. Anyway enjoy the video. It's a lot of fun!

Avatar: The Making of the Bootleg

This is a fantastic parody of all of the "behind the scenes" documentaries that are now a necessity for any collectors edition DVD set. Avatar is a pretty sweet movie and I can't wait to get the actual DVD or Blue Ray disc eventually. But in the mean time, a bootlegged DVD is the only way to watch it at home now. Special thanks also go to Peter Jackson and LOTR special extended documentaries. You paved the way for this short comedy sketch. And it is great!

This cracks me up! This is a literal version of the video of Aha's song "Take On Me." I'm trying to decide if my favorite part is when they warn "this guy is going to get an ass full of pipe wrench!" or if it's when the waitress crumples the comic book.
