Am I a Muppet or a Man?

This one goes out to all of you who are muppety men or very manly muppets.

Either way, it is an Oscar-winning video! Enjoy! And happy March everyone.

Bork, Bork, Bork!

Here is a gem of a commercial from 1992. Sorry for the nostalgia, but I've been really nostalgic about the Muppets recently. I really wish the Muppet Show was still on. I really wish that I could still eat a bowl of Post's the Swedish Chef's Croonchy Stars. It would make the Swedish Chef proud. Still insane . . . but proud. Insanely proud.

Bork! Bork! Bork!

Brilliant Sesame Street Parody

I have been a fan of Sesame Street for as long as I can remember. One of the things that brilliantly separates Sesame Street from many other shows is its phenomenal use of parody often. It belongs in the same category as Saturday Night Live and The Onion. Here is an awesome parody of the hit show Glee--about a glee club--that follows the "G" club with some completely recognizable characters:

And thus, all videogames became awesome . . .

FOREVER!

There is a genius in this video about a videogame pitch. I'm not talking about Tim Schafer, creator of the Monkey Island games, Psychonauts, and more. I'm talking about the executive. The brilliant cookie loving exec! I love the tie and collar. (Incidentally I built a similar tie and collar combo for my dragon puppet and my brother's chimpanzee puppet at my mother's wedding in 1996.) I love the smart phone. (Seriously who wouldn't have a phone cover of their own face in his position?) And I love cookie monster!

All is right with the world!

Spidermonster the Musical!

Even Seseme Street thinks the Spiderman musical is hilarious. I wish that Palisades still had licensing for Muppet Action figures because I would buy Grover as Spidermonster, Michael Steel muppet and Bono the Stage hand for everyone I know!

Ha ha ha! Bono the stage hand! Why is failure so funny?!

Green with Envy Trailer

Oh Amy Adams, did you know what you were getting yourself into?

Probably not, but it was a good choice anyway!

The Passing of a Friend to Humanity

Twenty-one years ago today a masterful artist and craftsman passed on to the next world. Here is his friend Frank Oz eulogizing him with humor, sadness, and most of all love.

We miss you Jim!

Tribute to an Amazing Man!

Jim Henson's birthday is today. He would have been seventy-four. He may have left us, but his beautiful creations are still bringing joy us the world around. In an almost Monty Python-esque way his way out of any sketch was to throw chickens and penguins into the air. Yet at the same time these characters carry a lot of weight. It is unbelievable to see how poignant these small pieces of fabric, plastic, and feathers can be.

Uhm, excuse me, I think I have something in my eye. This song gets me every time!

A LEGO Muppet named Gazebo!

Well, there are times that LEGO projects astound me. And this is one of those times. Here is a LEGO Muppet-looking hand puppet built by Jason Ruff (aka Dr Mobius.) The hand puppet looks really friendly though I'd keep him away from any Classic Space creations you have lying around. An explanation for that reasoning is contained in this video here.

So check out Jason's creations! If you peruse his Flikr account here you can see has has a number of other great LEGO creations.

Celebrity Lullabye Time!

I don't know about you, but I want Ricky Gervais to sing me to sleep! Even though it is quite clear that he doesn't sing Elmo to sleep at all. I am firmly under the impression that Sesame Street is one of the finest shows of all time. And this sketch continues my belief in Muppets and music.

Also Elmo's face by the end of the ordeal is priceless. Bravo, Sesame Street. Bravo!

Muppets Do Bohemian Rhapsody

I love the Muppets with every fiber of my being. And this is really fun. It's great to see Mahnah-mahnah get a part since opening up the Muppet Show back in the late 1970s. Many other favorite characters all get their cameo including the Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem which is great. Animal (always a perpetual favorite) gets a large part especially considering his renown as a less than stellar orator. This is great. Be sure to check out some of the other Muppet themed videos on Youtube. It may not be the next Muppet Movie we all wanted but it is beginning to channel some of the same spirit of the original.
